Kieran Rodger, Nicknames: “Buck”, “Kenny”, “Dale”, “F.I.G.J.A.M.”
Right arm ‘trundler’ bowler and Left hand ‘late cut’ batsman
Buck joined Woodlands in the 2015 season having played for Woodlands U17 junior team. Having plied his trade at Triangle, Kieran has stepped up to play for the Woodlands Dream Team. A popular member of the team in and out of the dressing room, Buck has proved how effective he is with both bat and ball.
Gareth Duckworth, Nickname: “Vera” Wicket Keeper/Batsman
Gaz joined Woodlands having previously played his cricket at Pudsey Saint Lawrence, Idle and Undercliffe. Gaz has already brought a balance to the team, having made a big difference behind the sticks! His ability to stand up, taking sharp stumpings and catches, keeps the opposition's batsmen on their toes and has made a real difference to our bowling attack. Gaz has proved to be a great signing and will hopefully enjoy his cricket at Woodlands for many years to come!
Cieran Garner – Right Hand opening batsman – Nickname ‘Bubba’
Cieran is a product of the Woodlands Junior section, and is a true Woodlands man, understanding what it means to win for Woodlands! Cieran has dominated the 2nd team batting averages at club and league level in recent seasons and is part of the first team squad. Cieran brings a ‘serenity’ to the team both on the pitch and in the dressing room! He remains a young man, but is a senior player in the 2nd team set up, respected by his team and opponents alike. Cieran can control an innings, but also dominate it when he chooses....almost an athlete in the field, and a great catcher of the ball! Bubba’s favourite food is garlic shrimp. He is on course to be a true Woodlands Legend!
Kieran Collins Nickname: “The Real Collins” Right arm fast bowler, Right hand batsman
By far the best and most popular of the Collins brothers! Kieran joins the Woodlands Dream Team this year having played his junior cricket at Brighouse, Lightcliffe, Hunslet and Northowram Hedge Top. Kieran has already proved a great addition to the team with his pace bowling causing the oppositions opening batsman some problems. Kieran also plays an array of shots in the middle order and has already put together some useful innings. Kieran is a team man and is a good lad to have in the dressing room.
Jack Carter – Right hand top order batsman
Jack returned to the team after a season out focussing on his degree in 2014. Jack is part & parcel of the Woodlands set up, with Dad Nigel and mum Christine, part of the 2nd team supporters club! Jack is a naturally gifted batsman and is great to watch when he is in full flow! A good team man and well liked member of the squad. There are high expectations for Jack to fulfil his potential and score plenty of runs this season!
Liam Brearley, Nickname: “LB” Right Hand Top Order Batsman
We welcomed Liam back to Woodlands for the 2016 season after a brief spell back at Undercliffe. We also saw the return of his Dad (Mick) and Mum (Sue aka Moses Kiptanui) who were all very welcome back at Woodlands and have proved great assets to the club. Liam brings a quality and calmness back to the top of the order and raises the standards in the field. Liam is a popular member of the team on and off the pitch and will go on to form the back bone of the Woodlands Dream Team in years to come.
Jack joined Woodlands in 2015 alongside his brother Liam and Dad Jeremy and the whole family has already proved to be a great addition to the club! Jack is a promising top order batsman who is also a right arm medium pace bowler, and athletic fielder. Jack is part of the Woodlands youth policy, part of the Yorkshire set up and I am sure set for big things in the game!
Steven Pearson (Capt) - Nickname: ‘Shaggy’
Stevie has played at Woodlands all his life, progressing from compound cricket, through the juniors to senior level. It’s not known by many but Stevie was a ‘quick’ opening bowler in his junior cricket days.
He has been part of the Woodlands ‘Dream Team’ for over 20 years, winning every trophy going! He remains the heart-beat of the 2nd XI and is hoping to lead the team to further success this year!
Robert Medcalf - Nickname: ‘Beast’
A true Woodlands 2nd team legend, Rob has played at Woodlands all his life, like his Dad Gerald who captained the 1st XI to success in the 1980’s, Woodlands is in the blood for ‘Beast’. A hard hitting middle order batsman. Who can forget his famous knock of 163 against Townville which helped us win the league!
Rob is the ‘go to man’ with the ball, bowling fast medium and always taking important wickets when required! Proving Rob’s all-round ability, he has followed in his Dads footsteps again, being a class gully fielder.
