Our 1st XI were involved in a thriller of a game today, just down the road at Moorend, that swung more than once before ending in dramatic fashion with both teams taking a share of the spoils in a tied match. It looked like the home side's wicket keeper, Mally Nicholson on 87no, had done enough to steer Cleckheaton home as they levelled the scores with one over to spare This despite the fact they had required 29 to win just 2 overs earlier.
However, the visitors had one last ace up their sleeve in the shape of Sarfraz Ahmed who took the last two Cleckheaton wickets in successive deliveries to leave the scores level and both teams wondering how they had not won the game!
We didn't have long to wait for the 1st centuries
of the new season as both Duncan Snell (163*) & Sam Frankland (102) both hit Three figures at home to Hartshead Moor on Sunday.
The first weekend of the new season saw our very own Grant Soames pass a significant career landmark. His 41 runs against Hanging Heaton was enough for him to pass 5000 1st XI runs.
